According to Hrani, his parents left the jungle long before he was born, so he hasn't experienced the great outdoors life that most viera have. He still knows a bit thanks to his father insisting on passing on his survival skills and talents, but he's a bit clueless. It's sometimes painfully obvious to other viera that Hrani never lived in a clan, and like with most things, he's insatiably curious about clan life.Thaumaturgy
Hrani had worked and trained in the Thaumturges guild since he was young. He was often seen working in the Ossuary or in the archives researching, until recently. Other thaumaturges or visitors to the guild may have seen him on occasion. Strange that such a devoted scholar seems to never be in the guild anymore.Insatiable Hunger for Knowledge
As a mage and scholar, Hrani loves to learn and uncover hidden or forgotten knowledge. He readily seeks out other magical practitioners to learn about their art and delves into ruins in search of secrets. If you have a staff or focus, or even mention practicing magic around Hrani, he will excitedly ask about your practice and theories. As a lover of history as well, he is more than happy to discuss ancient empires or help with research.Stupendous Stoat
More often than not, a small weasel-like creature is either perched on Hrani's shoulder, or somewhere near his feet. It's not shy of other people, but does tend to stare unblinkingly at people Hrani is speaking to. Perhaps this little stoat catches your attention by being a bit too unnerving with the stare.

Background
After his parents escaped the inferno that claimed their home in the Golmore Jungle, Hrani was raised in thee great Jewel of the Desert, Uldah. From a young age, he showed a great interest in magic and aether, and begged his parents to let him join the thaumaturges guild.He eventually was able to join as a young adult, and thrived in his studies, quickly taking to a senior thaumaturge who acted as his mentor, Lulureme Qoqoreme. He eventually began working in the Ossuary to continue doing what he loved, thaumaturgy, as a job, even if it meant working in the funeral service of the city.Once it was clear he was able to take care of himself, his parents left Uldah to travel the star after feeling cooped up in the city for years. They keep in touch with occasional letters, but Hrani felt suddenly alone in the city, until he met another thaumaturge by the name of T'lheese. Through her, he met a now long time friend, Mori'li, an alchemist hailing from Gridania. The three of them were inseparable, and Hrani and T'lheese even began dating.Eventually, T'lheese's thirst for knowledge became apparent when she told Hrani she wished to study Black Magic. Though a bit cautious at first, Hrani eventually relented, and agreed to study with her, going so far as to break into the forbbiden archives of the guild to retrieve the notes on the subject for them to use.It didn't take long for their ambition to get the better of them. During a study and training session, T'lheese took in far more aether than she could handle, and caused an eruption of fire, kiling her and nearly ending Hrani's life as well. He tried to take her to Mori'li, and despite his best efforts, she was lost, but Hrani survived.Ever since, Hrani has sworn off Black Magic, and made it a goal of his to research magic and its historic and often disastrous uses to find better and safer ways to harness aether. Following this pursuit, he joined an expedition team looking to the New World with the hopes of uncovering magical arts and history unheard of in the rest of the world.
